The 5th edition of the only independent Retail Awards. Underlines Magazine, organisers, have just announced the nominations for the 2013 competition. Two new Awards are added for 2013 – Hosiery Retailer of the Year and Supplier of the Year. Finalists will be announced in October 2013 with Gala Ceremony in London on Wednesday 20th November.

The usual categories include Best Newcomer, Best Concept Store, Best Personal Touch, Best Reference Shop, Best Standalone Department Store, Best Large Department Store, Best Etailer and of course the Excellence & Outstanding Achievement Award.

These Retail Awards are unlike anything else in the UK and Ireland as uniquely shops and stores cannot nominate themselves but are nominated by the jury of 24 leading brands, representing a cross section of intimate apparel, swimwear and legwear.

In general nominations are presented on the basis of high professionalism (in product knowledge, personal involvement in the sector, good working practices and customer loyalty); merchandising (in terms of structure in relation to shop/store space, furniture and decor, surroundings and window display and/or website); and management (of stock and sales figures, business figures and good financial management).

Only one award will be decided by public vote – The Excellence & Outstanding Achievement Award – 12 names have been put forward. Online voting will commence late August in either of two ways – with our cooperation with Moda UK, the leading trade fair, on www.moda-uk.co.uk or on www.starsunderlinesbestshopawards.com.
